London based band Slender Pins release their latest single, ‘So Happy (90 Percent of the time)‘ today. Ash (vocals), Alex (guitar) and Ed (drums) first started the track in Autumn 2021 with Alex having idea for the riff on the way to rehearsal; the band then jammed around on it a bit and Ash introduced the ‘So Happy’ chorus. Ideas were bandied back and forth for the next few months before recording took place in a mammoth 12-hour session the following April.
The track appears to be full of sunny escapism but appearances can be deceptive and the title refers to the ten percent that isn’t so happy and jolly, the darker part of life that lurks beneath.
The track darts between spoken word and soaring chorus, pop punk riffs and swirling soundscapes whilst being underpinned by powerhouse bass and drums. As we move from Summer into Autumn, this is a great track to highlight the light and the dark.
So Happy (90 Percent of the Time) is released on 23 September.
